Old News (2003) December 31st: It's about six months late, but I finally got the time to update the Story page. Check it out. The Bios are next. December 27th: Huge update. Strip#200, just for starters. Also, a new Dan's Life strip and a new bonus strip. You'll find them both here. I revamped almost every page, most noticibly here. And on the Junk page you'll find a couple new bonus sketches. Hope you enjoy. As for me... I've got a sick girlfriend and a sick baby to take care of. December 26th: I took Christmas off. But here's the strip. Look for a big update this weekend. December 17th: Welcome to the new and improved Dan's World. Well, improving. Thanks, once again to my girlfriend, my strip has a new home. She even figured out how to make the strips smaller to cut down on that aggravating load time. Next I'll have to go back and fix the strips to make them look the way I want. And the newer strips (from the past few months) will have to be rescanned and retouched. The new scanner seems to have left smudgies that weren't apparent before the reformatting. Oh well, like I said on Day One, this site is always going to be a work in progress. But with the new domain, and the smaller file sizes, we're one step closer. Thanks for paying me a visit. Oh, and since I had some extra time tonight (being that I won Final Fantasy VI and all) I finally added the Reviews page. You'll find it here. December 16th: Okay, so I missed another update. It won't become a habit. I promise. I just got all caught up playing Final Fantasy VI, and lost track of time. The strips for the week are finished and uploaded, and here's Monday's and Tuesday's. In other news, I dropped Eyeshock. I don't know if there was rampant random cheating there, or just a weird glitch to the site, but after getting a couple thousand votes out of nowhere, it's clear something is going on. So it's gone. Buzzcomix will probably be next to go. These places shouldn't be about competition... about whose comic gets the most votes by whatever means necessary. These places should be for rating, commenting, and finding new stuff you otherwise wouldn't have come across. Making it into a competition and flaming people because they get more votes than your favorite strip just cheapens the whole thing. So I'm not going to be a part of it anymore. I'm just here to tell my little stories and play with my little stickfigures. Not to blow other people out of the water. Not to piss people off. Not to be abused because my art doesn't measure up to what other people think it should be. If I wanted my characters to look like everybody else's, I'd draw them that way. Sorry... I went off on a tangent. I'd better rein it in. Thanks for visiting, and if you read this whole thing, thanks even more. December 11th: It's finally happened. I am officially caught up. I didn't think I'd ever manage, but I did it. So the strip can finally return to its original (and much less hectic) schedule. One strip, Monday through Friday. What's ahead? A couple of sideline stories and the last two chapters of the mega storyline. And after that? You'll have to wait and see. And here's my plug of the month: Check this out. I dropped one comic list because it's always down, and turned into a false link. I'm debating which other lists to drop. By the time I revamp the site I'll make my final decision. And for everyone who's new to Dan's World... thanks for visiting. Hope you enjoy the stories. December 3rd: Well, the strip's back. I have no idea how I managed, but here's another triple update. The triple updates will continue for as long as it takes for me to catch up. Also there's a new Dan's Life and a belated Thanksgiving Bonus strip. December 1st: Had to take an unplanned hiatus. The holiday, stress, sickness... it's all taking its toll on me. But the triple updates should be back later this week. Then I'll be caught up. Oh... and Project Rabbit. Seriously, this comic is good. It'll be going through some major revamping soon, so keep an eye on this spot. November 19th: Yeah, I'm back. Sorry about the load times, but I'm going to have to go triple strips for the rest of this week to make up for missing two more days. It won't be much longer, and things will settle back into the original routine around here. Oh, and thanks to my friend Jinny for giving me the encouragement I needed to get my act together. And no, I didn't forget the obligatory plug to Project Rabbit. Those who haven't visited, head on over. It's gonna be huge. November 9th: Double posts again this week, starting with Sunday, and hopefully making it through next weekend too. We'll see how many I get done tomorrow. It's going to be a busy week with all the work we're doing on Project Rabbit this week. There's going to be extra posts on there as well, so drop by and take a look. November 3rd: Double posts this week. I was hard at work this weekend making sure to get some of these done. October 31st: Happy Halloween! Cruise on over to the Bonus section for a special Halloween Strip. October 30th: Project Rabbit! Take a look! This strip has been in the works for two years now, and it's finally off the ground! Drawn by Imago Rabbit, and written by yours truley. It's been a fun collaboration, and should make for a great comic. October 27th: Updates this week. Also, check out Dan's Life. There will be a better Bonus strip later this week. Thanks to those who left me reviews this week. It means a lot to me. October 24th: Okay, the strip's back. Sorry it took so long. I will be updating every day from here on out. When I get ahead again, we'll go back to the double updates. A big hello goes out to the new readers. Hope you enjoy the new storyline. October 15th: Excuse time. Things have been really hectic, so I've fallen even further behind. New job, family, blah blah blah... you've heard it all before. So the double updates are on hold for awhile, but one strip is better than none, right? Right? ... ... Don't answer that. :) October 1st: It looks like I'll be able to update daily still... if anything changes, I'll leave a note here. The weekends are going to be out for awhile, but I'll still get up to date as soon as I can. It's going to be a little while before I can do some of the work I need to do... fixing some of the older strips, rescanning some that didn't turn out right, things like that. September 30th: I'm going to have trouble updating after today, but it shouldn't be more than a week. Sorry about that. September 26th: Still catching up. I've been getting a lot of ideas for the next few storylines after the big one finishes out. Also, a new Dan's Life strip here. September 22nd: The 100th strip. It was supposed to be posted August 8th, but I wasn't back in time. To celebrate the 100th, I've done two more Dan's Life strips. Those can be found here. The problems with my computer and the scanner seem to be resolved now (as long as I only do one thing at a time), so updates will continued as planned. I'll be caught up in no time. If you get a chance, send me some word on what you think of the strip... any feedback is appreciated, especially with the continuing changes in the plot and characters. Thanks for reading! September 16th: Despite lack of sleep, problems with the scanner, and increasingly annoying problems with Front Page, I've managed to update. On the Bonus page, I've finished the Dan's Life storyline. Today's two regular strips are the beginning to the massive storyline I mentioned last time. Thanks to everyone who's been voting. I appreciate it. I hope you'll enjoy the new directions the comic is about to take. September 13th: I don't have the time to finish the Dan's Life storyline today, so look for that sometime next week. Today and tomorrow are bonus weekend updates, in a desperate attempt to catch up. Also, check out the Bonus page for a new strip to suppliment the two-part Visitor story. I'm hard at work on the massive multipart "Return to School" storyline. It's a little different from anything you've seen here yet, and I'm hoping you'll like it. We'll see. September 12th: Thanks go out to everyone who's voted. I whipped up not one, not two, but three Bonus strips for you. Let me know what you think... I know it's a little different, but it's been fun drawing without caring how it turns out. Special thanks goes out to Donalda, who helped me reorganize the front page, put on a new counter, and sort out what was wrong with the webrings I joined. If it weren't for her, this site would never have gotten on-line. September 10th: Another day, another attempt to catch up. Three more strips. Sorry about the load time. I'm cutting down to two strips a day starting tomorrow, and I'll be posting on the weekends too, until I catch up. (I should be on Strip#123 by now.) Lots of work left to do to get to that point. September 9th: Dan's World is back, despite all the opposition. (By opposition, I mean the phone company, my computer, and my girlfriend's scanner.) The scanner isn't working all of a sudden, so I won't be able to post everything that I had planned, but here's an update finally. Extra strips will be posted until I'm all caught up. In the meantime, check out the Junk page, and the Bonus page for some of the extras. Still working on the problem with the archives. Thanks for your patience. August 8th: Well, I've been gone a long time, but I'll return with new updates soon. My son was born on July 1st... kind of a surprise, but a good one. So the past few weeks have been filled with three a.m. feedings, and going out in hundred degree weather looking for a new job. Thanks to everyone who's been checking in. Should be a couple more weeks, and Dan's World will return. June 30th: Sorry about the delay. Dan's World now has a new home. This took work. There may still be glitches to work out. If anyone notices something on the site that isn't quite right, please let me know. I'll rush to correct it. Thanks to everyone who's been coming by, and thank you especially for the feedback. The more opinions I get, the better comics I can do. (Well, once I learn how to ink properly, that is.) Special shout-out to my bros, Aaron and Zach, who are celebrating their birthdays today. June 25th: The site is back for now, so I decided to update anyway. Hopefully I'll be able to track down a new home for it soon. I'll keep you updated. June 24th: Sorry everyone. No update today. Server problems. I don't even know if this is going to show up, but I promised to try to get word to my readers if anything cataclysmic happened. I'm in the process of moving my site. Since I made a bad beginners mistake, and since I just started my new job, this could take up to a week. Sorry about that. Extra comics when I return. June 19th: Tomorrow's update is early. Need sleep. Started the next storyline, just in time to disappear. I most likely won't have net access Monday. Sunday night I may be able to make an update. If they yank the line, I'll be gone for a couple of weeks, then post extras to catch up. Keep checking back, because I will return in full force. June 15th: Happy Father's Day to all the dads that read my strip! This has been a very busy day for me. I added two new pages to the site: Story and Bonus. Everytime I have a new Bonus strip it'll end up there, and I'll mention it here. The Story page is a quick runthrough of the plot and the unresolved Plot Threads. There's a lot of plot coming up, so this page will be updated almost daily. I also ran through every page in the site, adding links and refining what was already there. The other new addition you may have noticed is the donate button on the front page. If you have a couple of bucks to donate to keep everything running smoothly, thank you. If not, no sweat. This is mostly just a way to keep me in ink pens, paper, and internet access. (And maybe a smudgeless eraser.) Every little bit helps. Plus there will be Bonus Strips for everyone, and little special thingies to those who donate, so leave a comment and I'll get back to you. I'm now a proud member of my very first webring. (Check the Front Page if you'd like to take a look at the other strips in the ring. I'm reading through one now.) Which means, yet another Link for you to check out. (I also added my Live Journal on there.) My back is killing me. But it'll all be worth it when I have the strips up to the end of September finished, scanned and uploaded. Then my son can enter our lives and have plenty of his Daddy while the site runs on autopilot. In the meantime, drop me a line and let me know what you think of the site. June 7th: Updated the Links page yet again, fixed a couple of misdirected links on earlier strips that my brother pointed out. Also, I'm posting the second Bonus strip. This is in celebration of not getting the phone shut off, even though by all rights it should have been. You can find it here. June 5th: Whee! I'm now in search engines. Sweeeet. Life is going to be pretty busy in the next few months, what with the new little bundle of joy and all, but you should still get the regular Monday-Friday updates. Oh, also I updated the Bios page. May 29th: What a day I just had. Doctors, lawyers, cops, goverment offices, job-hunting... hell of a day. Thus, no strip. So I just stuck 'em both up at once. Enjoy. May 22nd: Just a warning... my new phone service is worse than my old one, and circumstances may be conspiring to keep me off-line for a week or so... maybe. We'll see. April 17th: All-Hell shut off my phone service, and my computer seems to be rejecting its Windows transplant. I was locked out of the site for two weeks. Sorry. If it ever happens again, I'll try to give word of it somehow. Anyway, I'm sure you all missed the strip, so I'm going to start posting doubles until I catch up. Plus, there should be new additions to the Junk page soon. The calender problem is solved now... I hacked it out. April 2nd: Updated the Bio page to reflect the additions to the cast. I think I'm just going to cut the calender out of here when I get the chance. March 30th: Updated the Links and Junk pages. Now there's a little bit there. Also fixed my banner. Next thing I have to go after is that pesky calender. March 29th: Updating this weekend and next so that I can reach my deadline. I meant to have the site up last Monday, but circumstances prevented it. I'm hoping to get all the strips that I've done so far up by Summer. The 7th of April will begin my regular update pattern of Monday-Friday. Expect some renovations coming soon. March 28th: The site is up and rolling. Donnie gave me a crashcourse in site-building.
